Tumbulgum and the cane fields

Yesterday we visited Tumbulgum in far North New South Wales on the beautiful Tweed River. Unfortunately the distillery, which is home to beautiful limited release Agricoles and also the famous “Ink” gin, isn’t open to the public at the moment but we spent a couple of hours exploring and getting lost amongst the sugar cane fields. I couldn’t help wondering how they manage to turn such an ordinary looking plant into such a delicious rum.
