Aussie Rum Punch

17521574_10154397854973148_67722777_oThere must be dozens of versions of the rum punch but I decided I’d give it a bash showcasing some of Australia’s offerings.

Traditionally, Rum Punch would contain a 151 rum (75.5 %ABV). I’m not aware of any Australian distilleries that offer a rum that potent so instead I used the Hoochery Distillery Ord River Single Barrel which comes in at a still eye watering 64.9%ABV.

Added to this I chose the Far North Queensland Rum Company Iridium. Both the Iridium and Ord River are tropical aged which only seems right for a rum punch. Then tying it together is the Archie Rose Cane Spirit which I had yet to open. It seemed perfect for this type of use. Cheers.

Aussie Rum Punch

  • 30 ml Ord River Single Cask
  • 30 ml FNQ Rum Co Iridium
  • 30 ml Archie Rose Virgin Cane Spirit
  • 20 ml Coconut Cream
  • A dash of Angostura Orange Bitters
  • Splash of Grenadine
  • Juice of half a fresh lime
  • Orange Juice and Pineapple Juice.

Shake all the alcoholic ingredients and the coconut cream with ice. Strain into a tall ice filled glass and top up with the fruit juices, bitters and lime juice. Stir together and then add a dash of Grenadine for colour.
